COACHES INFORMATION &TEAMS

The Fighting Saints are currently accepting coaching applications for the 2012 softball season. We would like to have the applications in by January 20th to allow the executive time to review applications and arrange for coaching accreditation clinics. Please remember that we are a volunteer organization and rely on our parents to come forward to coach. We will make every attempt to place your child on a team, but cannot guarantee placement if insufficient numbers of coaches are available.

LEARN TO PLAY (BLASTBALL-BEGINNER-NOVICE-MITE)

BORN: 2007 - 2002

Blastball: 2007

This is where it all begins! Blastball is a revised modern version of T-Ball that introduces softball to children in a revolutionary way while developing their skills and having fun!

Beginner: 2006; Novice: 2005 - 2004; Mite: 2003 - 2002

The Learn to Play program promotes basic skill development/fundamentals of softball, player participation and most of all FUN! Games in levels begin with a practice (where the fundamentals of softball are taught) followed by a game against another team. (Beginner is developmental only.)

SQUIRT

BORN 2001-2000

Here is where the skills learned in the LTP program come into play. This age group (along with the PeeWees and Bantams) divide the athletes into A, B or C teams, based on skill level and how much time the player has to commit with the A level requiring the most. This division encourages athletes to try out different positions -- find a couple they like -- and begin developing their skills and knowledge of the game at these positions. This is the age group where the athletes will begin traveling to tournaments and facing competition from other cities. FAIR PLAY, SPORTSMANSHIP, AND FUN are encouraged.

PEEWEE

BORN 1999-1998

This division begins to get more competitive, with the winning 'A' team at the Provincials representing Saskatchewan at the Canadian Western Championships. This age group is also divided into A, B or C teams based on skill level and commitment from the player. Basic softball skills should be automatic now and more advanced skills are introduced and practiced. FAIR PLAY, SPORTSMANSHIP AND FUN are encouraged.

BANTAM

BORN: 1997-1996

This age group is where everything should be coming together. Skills have been developed and now the players are putting them to practice, as well as learning the strategies of the game. For those who thrive in a competitive environment and are ready to put in the time, the 'A' team may be what you are looking for. For those who would like to be competitive, but may not have the time to commit to the 'A' team, we can help you out in the 'B' and 'C' divisions. Once again, FAIR PLAY, SPORTSMANSHIP AND FUN are encouraged.

MIDGET

BORN: 1995-1994

The midget division players have a choice of playing within the RMSL or with the Regina Midget Division within the ladies league.
